Glossary

This page defines the terms this guide uses for the Hyground web UI. Each guide page links a term to this page the first time it uses it.

Agent

The agent is the assistant you talk to in Hyground. It investigates issues in the connected systems of your installation.

Auto RCA

An automated root cause analysis (Auto RCA) is a session Hyground starts by itself. Hyground starts it without a question from you.

Chat area

The chat area is the column in the middle of an open session. It shows the messages of that session in order.

Connected system

A connected system is a system your administrator connected to Hyground. Examples are a cluster, a log store, or a ticket tool.

Export

To export a session or a skill is to download a copy of it to your computer.

Installation

Your installation is the Hyground deployment that you sign in to. It holds the users, sessions, and skills of your organization.

Knowledge base

The knowledge base holds the documents your administrator imports into Hyground. The agent searches it for background on your environment.

Language model

The language model is the AI model that writes the agent's replies. Your installation is configured to use one.

Left navigation

The left navigation is the column of icons on the left edge of the Hyground web UI.

Message

A message is a single text you send, or a single reply the agent sends, inside a session.

Message box

The message box is the box where you type your message to the agent.

Owner

The owner of a session is the user who started it.

Pin

A pin is a personal marker you set on a session.

Private

A private session is visible only to its owner. A private skill is visible only to the user who created it.

Profile

Your profile holds the name Hyground calls you, and the preferences that shape the agent's replies to you.

Recall

Recall is the agent's search of your own past sessions for content to bring into a new session.

Recalled content

The agent can bring content from your other sessions into a new session. That content is recalled content.

Schedule

A schedule is a saved message with a planned time. Hyground starts a session from it, once or repeatedly.

Scheduled session

A scheduled session is one that Hyground starts from a schedule at its planned time. You do not start it yourself.

Session

A session is one continuous exchange with the agent. It keeps a full history of its messages and tool calls.

Session menu

The session menu is the list of actions for one session.

Session panel

The session panel is the list of sessions beside the left navigation.

Settings menu

The settings menu is the menu behind the gear icon at the bottom of the left navigation. It holds your personal settings for Hyground.

Share

To share a session or a skill is to make it available to every user of your installation.

Skill

A skill is a saved set of instructions for the agent. It carries a name, a description, and a line that tells the agent when to load it.

Skill command

The command of a skill is a slash and its name, for example /disk_space_report.

System skill

A system skill is a skill that ships with Hyground.

Tool

A tool is a specific action the agent can run against one of your connected systems. Examples include reading logs or checking a resource.

Tool call

A tool call is one use of a tool during a session, together with its result.

Tools panel

The Tools panel is the panel labeled Tools in the chat area. It lists the tool calls the agent made for one part of its reply.

Unshare

To unshare a session or a skill is to make it available only to its owner again.
